ABOUT US

Company overview

National food security is a key part to the federal government’s plans to improve quality of life in the United Arab Emirates and increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of locally produced food products is one of its strategic initiatives.
The growing population and increasing consumption of fish are dependent on the imports to meet the domestic fish demand. According to the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment 2017, the average annual sea food consumption in the United Arab Emirates was nearly 226,000 metric ton, while the United Arab Emirates’ fish stocks were only 70,000 metric ton, forcing the country to be import-dependent for more than 70% of its seafood.

Demand for seafood products is anticipated to rise significantly due to the rising population. The increasing awareness regarding healthy food has positively influenced the production and, thus, drives the market’s growth.
To encourage the production of aquaculture production in the country, the government is taking up initiatives which are driving the growth of fisheries and aquaculture market in UAE.
